How to Tigten the Belt on a NordicTrack 990 Elliptical

The NordicTrack 990 Elliptical provides a cardio workout that utilizes a drive belt for resistance. Ellipticals often offer a quality workout, while causing less impact on the user’s knees and joints. For the elliptical machine to be effective, it is important to know how to maintain and tighten the drive belt.

Instructions:

1. Make sure to unplug the elliptical before you start any maintnance to avoid injury.

2. Remove the cover that is located on the back of the machine. This cover sits over the flywheel and protects the
drive belt from exposure. Yow will need a Phillips head screwdriver to complete this task.

3. The belt inside resembles a large rubber band and is connected around a large wheel to a smaller spindle.

4. Locate the hex screw under the smaller spindle and tighten it with an allen wrench. Examine the belt and make sure it
fits snug around the spindle and wheel.

5. Use the allen wrench to tighten the roller bolts along the front of the spindle. To tighten these bolts, turn the wrench
in a clockwise direction.

6. Replace the cover and check for tightness. If the drive belt is still loose, take the cover off and repeat the tightening
process.
