The NordicTrack 990 Elliptical provides a cardio workout that utilizes a drive belt for resistance. Ellipticals often offer a quality workout, while causing less impact on the user’s knees and joints. For the elliptical machine to be effective, it is important to know how to maintain and tighten the drive belt.
Instructions:
1. Make sure to unplug the elliptical before you start any maintnance to avoid injury.
2. Remove the cover that is located on the back of the machine. This cover sits over the flywheel and protects the
drive belt from exposure. Yow will need a Phillips head screwdriver to complete this task.
3. The belt inside resembles a large rubber band and is connected around a large wheel to a smaller spindle.

Priced around $1,000, the NordicTrack Elliptical Trainer offers the features of a gym-quality machine for a fraction of the cost. At 247 pounds, the NordicTrack Elliptical Trainer AudioStrider 990 Pro is a hefty machine.
Fold-up design allows the AudioStrider 990 Pro to be tucked away when not in use. The control interface includes an audio jack for iPods, MP3 players and portable music devices with playback through integrated speakers. iFit capabilities available with the a la carte wifi adapter and monthly iFit subscription allow users to download new workout plans created by professional personal trainers. Stride control, incline ramp and manual resistance put riders in control.
The AudioStrider 990 Pro arrives dissembled. Typical setup times range from 90 minutes to two hours. Assembly is completed with provided allen wrenches and a simple flat head screwdriver. Bolt grease is also included to aid in setup and provide smooth, squeak-free operation.

The NordicTrack E5 VI Elliptical Trainer 23955 is a solid workout machine that comes equipped with sixteen preset workout programs – eight timed training workouts and eight weight-loss workouts. Other features include an adjustable stride length between 13-18 inches, 12 levels of resistance, 300-lb. weight capacity and a lifetime frame warranty.
Nice extras include oversized pedals, a CoolAire™ fan, backlit display and heart monitor. It’s iPod-compatible and has iFit memory card access, as well. With dimensions of 73.8” x 24.6”x 64.2”, it’s a good-sized piece of equipment, but the SpaceSaver® Design allows it to fold up for easier transport and storage. Priced at around $600, it’s not prohibitively expensive.
Most users find it easy to use and especially like the adjustability of the stride length, although there can be a slight wobble and some instability at higher speeds. Some find that the batteries are depleted rather quickly and recommend buying the optional power adapter.
